The series follows three young adults who find themselves in the eye of the storm that rocked Belgium when the gang commits brutal robberies and tensions between the investigators prevent them from solving the case. Preparations for the series are in full swing. 1985 will be made with a mixed Flemish and French-speaking team, the cast will also come from both Flanders and Wallonia. The story of the Gang, the tensions within the gendarmerie and the numerous events that disrupted our country in the 1980s are etched in the collective memory of both language communities. Netflix and Belgium’s Flemish community public service broadcaster Vrt have commissioned eight-part crime drama “Diamonds.” Co-created by Yuval Yefet and Rotem Shamir, who also directs, the series with mafia-style undertones, is set within Antwerp’s diamond district and follows the struggles of one of the city’s most influential diamond-dealing families. My role appears in two episodes as the friend of an Albanian mafia dealer. “Diamonds,” to be shot in Dutch, English and Yiddish, will be co-produced by Keshet International and Belgium’s De Mensen. It was commissioned by Netflix alongside Vrt’s head of scripted, Wim Janssen, and is supported by Screen Flanders.
